Can you believe that it is December? The 1st as a matter of fact and time for our next segment of Scripture memory!
I pray that you all had a happy Thanksgiving. I ate so much turkey that I think I may sprout feathers. We host Thanksgiving for my side of the family. I so love of the smell of turkey roasting and hot cider wafting through our home. My children and extended family spent hours at the table playing cards and board games. It brings back great memories from when I was a kid. We had so much to be thankful for this year. God never ceases to amaze me when I look back over the year and see his grace and mercy at work – even in the things that at the time seemed painful and overwhelming.

I said it last post and I’ll say it again…I want God’s Word to be in our mouths and our hearts! I want us to know it, to live by it and prosper! In order to do that, we are going to have to be intentional about studying the Word and meditating on it. And we are going to have to work on committing it to memory so God’s Truth is readily available when our enemy and the world comes against us with all manner of lies and deception. Let’s ask Him to give us sharp minds that retain Scripture. That His Word would take root in our hearts on good soil and will produce a harvest of righteousness for His glory! It is His will for us to be women of His Word!
Some things that God is working on in me took me to 2 Peter. My selection is a longer segment this time. As such, I’m fairly certain that I’ll be working on it through the entire month of December…
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who has called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness, and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Remember that as you are working on your new Scripture memory, you also need to be reviewing your previous segments. Practice them in an order other than you memorized them in. When you have 20 verses down, you don’t want to have to say the first 19, to be able to say 20!
