Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Thessalonians 1:2)!
It is April 15th and not only is it tax day (did someone just say "ugh"...oh, that was me!) but it is also time for our next segment of Scripture memory! Don’t you love God’s Word!
In Deuteronomy 30:11-16, Moses said to the Israelites:
Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.
See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
That is what I want for us! I want God’s Word to be in our mouths and our hearts! I want us to know it, to live by it and prosper! In order to do that, we are going to have to be intentional about studying the Word and meditating on it. And we are going to have to work on committing it to memory so God’s Truth is readily available when our enemy and the world comes against us with all manner of lies and deception.
The Breaking Free Bible study has only solidified in my mind and heart that God has hand crafted an individual plan and purpose for each one of us. A plan and purpose that weaves beautifully into His master plan for His eternal kingdom and for the church in this life. I ran across these verses in my study time and they are my Scripture memory for this segment:
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me. The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever - do not abandon the works of your hands.
