Scripture Memory Team - Verse 8 and a Giveaway!

A very happy new year to you all!

On the day that so many of us are formulating our new year’s resolutions and turning over a few new leaves, what perfect timing for a Scripture memory post. I can’t think of a better resolution for 2010 than to grow in our walk and relationship with God through the study and memorization of His Word! If that is anywhere in the realm of your resolutions, this post is for you.

If this is your first time to hear about the Scripture memory team or if you haven’t joined us in the past, click here to view the Scripture Memory Tutorial Video which outlines the basic approach to Scripture memory at RENEW. You do not have to be in any way affiliated with PCS to join us. You just need to have a love for God and His Word!

I so appreciate all of the ladies who have been participating in the Scripture memory team since 9/15. I know that many of the ladies in the Daniel study have been faithfully participating and memorizing their Scripture and I really want to encourage you today to begin posting your Scripture selections with us. The team is a center of accountability for Scripture memory. Please do not underestimate the power of accountability. The mere fact that we put our Scripture out there for others to see puts us one step closer to victory. When we have committed to others we are far more likely to follow through. If you are still unsure how to comment, click here for step by step directions.

And if by chance our enemy is trying to fill your mind with lies...there is NO wrong choice for Scripture memory. No segment is 'silly' (I could barely type that out of reverence for God's Word) and no one will wonder why you chose a segment that you did. As a matter of fact, you may help a sister by posting the exact Word she's been looking for! You don't have the one computer that won't post comments, you are NOT too computer illiterate to post a comment (if I can do it, you can do it...it's the truth!), your computer won't be hacked into if you leave a comment and the whole of the blog community will not have access to you if you leave a comment. Did I forget anything? I did...a big one...if it is pride that is keeping you from posting, please let that one go. If you think you are the one person who doesn't need accountability, who can function in isolation, you are not. I know this one by heart because my human bent is always toward isolation.

Accountability time for me. I’ll be working on 2 shorter Scripture segments this time…

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16 NIV

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23 NIV

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him (in 2010), so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13).

Your turn! I have included the details of the Giveaway below.

Be Blessed,
Karessa
**The Giveaway!**

There will be 2 giveaway items:

1) A registration fee to the Winter/Spring 2010 PCS Bible study Breaking Free (includes member book). Click on here for details.

2) Breaking Free Day by Day: A Year of Walking in Liberty. This little treasure takes the trade book which Beth Moore’s Breaking Free study is based on and breaks it into a convenient day-by-day reading format.

From November 15 until January 15, each time you participate in the Scripture Memory Team by posting your Scripture to RENEW on the 1st and 15th of the month, your name will go into the giveaway drawings. If you did not post Scripture on November 15, December 1 or December 15, you can go back and post your current selection on those posts too. Your name will be entered for each posting! If you want to be entered for both items, just post your Scripture as usual. If you only want to be entered in the drawing for one item, please note such in your comment (for instance, if you are unable to join us for the Bible study, please note that and your name will be entered in only the Day by Day drawing). The drawing will be done and announced at the end of January. As in the past, if you have already signed up and paid for the Bible study and you win the registration fee, it will be refunded to you.

Acts 2:41-42 NIV
Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
